Healy Happenings: Lady Liberty

We finally made it into Manhattan today. First stop: Statue of
Liberty. A must. Brendan, in particular, loved it. We made it up into
the pedestal. So cool!

What I'm reading this month

June: The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri (this story pulls you in from the first pages. I couldn't put it down!)
MARCH: The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield (hmmm ... I skipped March but playing catch up as the girls all loved this one!)
FEB.: A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest J. Gaines (definitely worth reading, but is more than a quick chick flick)
JAN.: Before the Storm by Diane Chamberlain (couldn't put it down!)
DEC.: The Red Tent by Anita Diamant (a fascinating historical fiction about Dinah, mentioned in the Biblical book of Genesis; definitely worth a read)
OCT./NOV.: Sundays at Tiffany's by James Patterson (interesting story about imaginary friends)
JULY: Bikini Season by Sheila Roberts (total chick-lit but entertaining story about a group of women who diet and exercise together to improve their self-image)
JUNE: I'm skipping this month, since book club is a week earlier and the read is a trashy romance novel. Besides I'm spending these beautiful evenings out running, not inside reading!
MAY: Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Piccoult (excellent choice by an excellent author; we had already read and enjoyed "My Sister's Keeper")
APRIL: The Friday Night Knitting Club (fabulous book that'll move you to tears)
MARCH: I weasled my way out of hosting book club this month, because I'm working seven days a week at the moment. The group is reading some book about vampires. Not worth mentioning, since I won't have a chance to even see the cover!
FEBRUARY: The Kite Runner (a page-turner)
JANUARY: The Devil in the White City (worth every page!)
DECEMBER: The Jane Austen Book Club (only if you have the time)
