Ryan enjoys his fifth lollipop as the boys sit and watch the Liberty Fest parade. Somehow, Ryan kept finding more suckers, despite my attempts to hide them!
We celebrated Dad's day by doing all of the things Ken enjoys during the summer. First, it was breakfast at Zack's, our usual weekend spot. Next, we went grocery shopping. OK, so that really isn't one of his favorite activities. We did that out of necessity.
Back at home, Ryan napped while Ken and Brendan hung out in the backyard doing puzzles together. Afterward, they went to the pool, where I would join them later with Kelsey and Ryan. Brendan made more breakthroughs in the water this weekend. He went underwater and took his feet and hands off the bottom. Within a half hour of being at the pool Saturday, he was swimming all around the shallow pool. He and Ken had great fun playing underwater adventures.
Sunday, Brendan took it one step further and jumped off the diving board. Ryan wasn't about to be outdone by his big brother. He promptly followed and jumped in a few times as well.
After the pool we went to Doyle's for dinner. Doyle's is our usual summer dining spot because it has a nice patio and is located around the corner from our ice cream store, the Dairy King. (If this all sounds familiar, it is. We did the same on Mother's Day, except there was no swimming in May.)
Ryan, waiting patiently for his food at Doyle's. He loves wearing his sunglasses.
Brendan and Ryan enjoy a nice cold ice cream cone at the Dairy King. It was 90 degrees Sunday, unusually warm for June in Michigan. But it makes for excellent pool and ice cream weather.
